19805-22 Echinacea Unfolding, Ashland, OR, July 2012 - Backlit by the morning sun, this Echinacea flower head is still "opening." Hundreds of tiny flowers will develop in between the green and orange "spikes" to make up the larger flower head. This is typical of it's relatives in the Sunflower Family. Echinacea is known for its healing powers and immune support. What do you feel as you look into the image?

Echinacea grows wild in the American prairies, but I found this one in my neighbor's front yard!
